Jewitch: Seeking the Divine

Fuck the Zuck

No, you’re not imagining it—I’ve written before about Facebook and my messy breakup with the platform. Yet here we are again, and honestly? I feel a little vindicated. I’ve been saying for years how far Facebook has fallen, and now it’s undeniable.

If you missed the latest news, Meta has officially stopped pretending to care about tackling hate speech, misinformation, or community safety. Instead, they’ve gone all in on pandering to the MAGA war on “woke.” They’re calling it a fight against “censorship,” but in reality, they’ve rolled back many of the so-called protections they half-heartedly implemented during Trump’s previous term. For anyone paying attention, those protections were never real to begin with.

I’ve seen it firsthand. As I’ve mentioned in earlier posts, I’ve reported countless things on Facebook—things that supposedly violated their policies and the law. And guess what? Every time, I got the same bullshit response: “This doesn’t violate our policies.” Not the video of a young man violating a chicken (yes, that actually happened). Not the video of a woman being sexually assaulted at a bus stop in broad daylight. Not the mountain of blatant COVID misinformation, election lies, or posts targeting trans and Jewish people. Not even the posts from literal white supremacists spewing hate in Texas community pages.

Now, Meta’s just dropped the pretense of moderation altogether. They’ve fully bent the knee to the Orange Dotard. Are we surprised? Is this some sudden shift in Zuckerberg’s morals? Hell no. He—and plenty of other “tech bros”—have always leaned this way. I saw someone on Bluesky make a great point: Musk’s open bigotry and unchecked right-wing bullshit have emboldened these Silicon Valley types to drop their masks. And that’s exactly what we’re seeing with Facebook.

Once again, I’m begging people of good conscience: leave that cesspool behind. If you claim to support LGBTQ+ and marginalized communities, if you care about truth and facts, if you care about fighting exploitation and harm—then let your actions reflect it. Walk away. Let that platform wither and die so we can build something better.

Every platform has a shelf life, but for some reason, people are clinging to Facebook and Instagram, even as their leadership actively harms communities in real, tangible ways. Why? Let it go. It’s long past time.
